名与身孰亲?

Which is more beloved, One’s Reputation or One’s Self ?

名 (míng) 与 (yǔ) 身 (shēn) 孰 (shú) 亲 (qīn)?

人之在世,有此身便有此名。

名如吾身之过客,必然有时而来,有时而去;其来无所加,其去无所损,只是虚幻不实的东西。人应当重其身而轻其名。

大道无名无相,寂然不动,空无一物,自然而然,所以即使修道者,也不能执着“得道”之名。

《清静经》曰:“虽名得道,实无所得”

大道无形,大德无名。

不求而名自有,不扬而名自扬。
